UK Citizens stranded abroad

On 30/03/2020 the UK Government announced a partnership with the airline industry to bring home British people travelling abroad.

Where commercial routes remain feasible, airlines including Virgin, Easyjet, Jet2 and Titan Airways, will be responsible for getting their passengers with pre-booked tickets home.

For passengers with pre-booked tickets home, airlines are offering them alternatives where routes are cancelled, allowing them to change tickets, where permissible – including between carriers – and offering them the latest information and advice as the situation changes.

The Government advice for any UK citizens travelling abroad is to return home. If flights are running don’t wait and book your tickets as soon as possible.

If you’re travelling abroad, you should:

  1. contact your airline or travel company now
  2. keep up-to-date with Government travel advice pages. The Government are updating information on returning from the country you’re in as quickly as they can
  3. for real-time updates, follow the embassy or high commission’s social media for the country you’re in
