Birmingham to London on My Bicycle

My Journey Birmingham to London on My Bicycle

On the 23rd - 24th July 2011
I will be cycling from Birmingham to London to try and raise some money for the charity "WellChild" which I feel is a great cause -
WellChild - is the national charity for sick children, it helps sick children and their families throughout the UK to manage the consequences of serious illness and complex health conditions through a programme of care, support and research.
That's a journey of a mere 130 miles, including a lot of hills and blisters, all I want from this is to know that I have tried to help others by raising funds to help someone in need!
It's for a very good cause, so I am asking you to please please get your credit cards or debit cards out and make a donation now!
Thank you for reading and hopefuly understanding the need to make a contribution to this good cause, encouraging and genuinely caring for a family in their darkest hours.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and Donate Now

I have completed my Bike Ride 130 miles
Three year old Leo from Cardiff was born with hydrocephalus – water on the brain – and with part of his left arm missing. He spent
his first three months in special care and at eight months old suffered his first epileptic fit. His dad Kyle Jones, 22, is a single parent.
Kyle found Leo having a fit in bed last November. He was rushed into intensive care at the Children’s Hospital for Wales and a scan showed extensive brain damage. Thankfully Leo survived, but continues to need highly specialised care.
He is on nine different drugs and is tube-fed. For Kyle, caring for him is a daunting prospect – but WellChild Children’s Nurse Rhian has become his personal trainer, patiently teaching him what he needs to know. With Rhian’s help, Kyle is working towards caring for Leo at home day and night. “She has been brilliant, organising the equipment I need, dealing with all the things that I would never have known how to sort out, such as free nappies and physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatment. But most off all, she’s been a friend. For as long as she is there, I know I don’t have to cope alone.

Our team of WellChild Children’s Nurses work with sick children and their families in towns and cities across the country. These specialist nurses help to ensure that children with complex care needs can leave hospital and return home, and they are vital in the prevention of frequent re-admissions.
CASE STUDY
An accident left teenage Andrew severely brain damaged, blind and only able to communicate by blinking or smiling. His parents couldn’t manage his daily care needs and were in despair of ever finding the help they needed to bring him home from hospital. His local WellChild Children’s Nurse stepped in and Andrew is now back in the family home and at school
