Bullied Boy:

Bullied Boy:

There was a young Sikh boy at secondary school level who was being bullied by a group of boys. There was one ring leader and the others used to just follow this one boy, but as time went on they also started to bully him and began pushing him around, beating him up and calling him names. Throughout his horrible ordeal he remained quiet and did not tell anyone about what he was going through. However, he eventually decided he couldn’t take it anymore and plucked up the courage to inform the school about the bullying but nothing solid happened (as no serious action was taken) and so the bullying continued.

One day this young Sikh boy decided enough was enough and he simply took his bag and left school vowing that he would never come back to the school and no longer carry on in education. When he came home his mother confronted him and shocked with finding out what had been happening to her son and what decision he has now made for himself, she called the Sikh Helpline. She explained what had happened to her son and told them that he claims he will never walk back into school again.

The Sikh Helpline stepped in and went to their house. They sat with the young boy and explained the importance of his education. They also reassured him that he was not alone and made him realise that bullying is something that happens to a lot of kids but that there are options and ways of stopping it. So after offering the young boy support, they assured him that he would be helped. The Sikh Helpline then faxed the school and also reminded them that the boy had confided in the school but no action was taken, therefore this put pressure on the school and they quickly responded. The following day the head of year came in person to the boy’s house and took the details of the group who were bullying him and asked him to explain what had been going on. With doing so, the bullies were punished accordingly and serious action was taken.

The young Sikh boy was then happy to return to school and the mother thanked the Sikh Helpline for their help and support for her son.

Thank You.
